Can we overlook the hatred that we have yet to overcome?
MLK’s way for most but Malcolm X’s words for some
Living in a society drenched with technology
We are all too blind to see, the deformity of this American
policy
The neighbors see hate binding me
Yet they can’t see the WE in ME.
Too many segregations in life to list them
No longer is the biggest issue the binary system
Again we join together gender and race
We overlook the brains and focus on the color of the face
We overlook the teeth and similarity of the feet
Can we pause on the fact that race can’t take another
defeat?
We challenge the ways the music plays
We even criticize the words the voice say
Even though there is overall separation by religion. . .
A wise nation votes hate and make racist decisions
Do your ignorance and use of big words make you feel bigger?
Am I to sit back and smile while you call me n****r?
I wouldn’t be able to control my anger without God
We attempt to blur hatred away with our ipods
Can we change what we try to deny?
Can you do it? Can we? Can I . . .?
