You said

You said

A Poem by Heather Phelps

You said you loved me,
You said it was unconditional,
That is where the problem lies.

You claim unconditional love,
Then when a condition comes up,
That you don't like you are gone.

I am sorry I couldn't prove to you,
That indeed I was Pregnant,
That situation was not intentional.

I am sorry I didn't do anything,
When our child was miscarried,
But there was nothing to do.

Doctors would only have confirmed,
That indeed the child was dead,
Something I didn't want to hear.

The doctors could do a D&C,
But I don't care,
Too many risk factors there.

D&C's can cause sterility,
Which is one thing I will not risk,
For I do want another child eventually.

I am sorry that the next child I bear will not be from you,
Because you didn't like the condition,
My body presented to you.

I wish things could be all right again,
I wish things could go back,
But I doubt either of us could ever forgive & forget.

My love has always been unconditional,
Even when you sent that text,
The one where you broke up with me.

You broke my heart over your thoughts,
The ones that told you I was lying,
The ones that were indeed the ones lying to you.

I hope this opens your eyes,
To all the pain you have caused,
Meanwhile I love you still.

Forever & Always you & me is how it is meant to be.
