COLONY

COLONY

A Poem by Rene Velez

They take note, in Spring,
when the birds start to sing,
in the wind, at nature's whim,
impossiblity on the wing,

Shepards of the flower,
collecting by the hour,
a harmony of beauty,
of symmetry,
in their connectivity,

from red, to yellow,
to blue spruce,
nectar to produce,

pollen and opulence,
epitome of community
constantly on the move,

a queen to protect,
soliders to detect,
intruders they eject,

for blossoming arrivals,
...for our survival,
their sweetness we pursue.
