NIGHTSTAND
A Poem by Rene Velez
I remember correctly..
it was only you, always
you, before me, you,
my bird song before
the morn,
your skin kissed
by the Gods, your smile,
your slightest nod,
it was you I would see,
before the dawn,
laying on your side,
you'd look into my eyes
and pass your yawn,
a woman,
so beautiful and warm,
in my weakness
you were strong,
forgive me if I was
wrong for loving you,
when you grabbed
the money from
the nightstand,
and left my room.

I read five or six of your pieces and chose this one to comment. You have a very strong poetical voice and your choice of subjects is quite interesting. I chose this one because of its concise wording and the succinctness of the line lengths - something i have v=been trying to accomplish ( saying more with less) I think the subject of this piece is also unusual and intriguing - glad I came by I will return to read more -carl
