MANGLED STITCHES

MANGLED STITCHES

A Poem by Rene Velez

I wipe the ashes from my hands
I am but a spectator in this fruitless land
l Put out the embers from the cuff of my jeans
here I see and never intervene your unhappy vision
my shoe soles soft crossing your burnt bridges
though you are happiest in your dreams,
I sidestep your path collecting your unanswered wishes
and drink the blood from your ravenous streams
your treasure chest empty of riches,
your love dismissive like a tyrant queen
left to your divisive schemes
the lonely doll left in the corner
with mangled stitches.

I once knew a girl who was bi-polar and her moods shifted considerably, sometimes to the point of bitterness, this is the bitterness...

It always amazes me what we think we take away from experiences and what we actually take away. sometimes it takes a passage of time for the effects to manifest themselves and then some are loath to face it. When experiences move through a talent like yours Rene, you get garnets and sapphires like this piece, despite the mangled stitches. Keep feeling it deep and letting the changes play...

A strong poem. I hire people with bi-polar at my work. They must take their medicine or they can because upset. Hard to have no control over body and mind. Thank you for the powerful poem. We must understand many things. To be kind and understand life and the pain of others. Thank you for the excellent poem.

Heavy piece, spiteful in its delivery. This burns the souls all acid-like.

Very nice work, here. In the fifth line it should be "soles" instead of "souls," but that's the only typo I can find in the entire poem and what's much more important than that is the meaning of the poetry. This piece of work creates very vivid imagery and sends an important message. Great job.
