Crying Without a Sound

Crying Without a Sound

A Poem by Renette Hollow

You hold my heart in your hands
And courtesy surely demands
That you don't drop or break it
But you've already treated me like s**t
So my heart now lies in shards on the ground
And I am crying without a sound.
You could put the pieces back together
You could make me feel all better
But you just stand there like you don't know what to do
Even when I insist that I still love you
While I try and look you in the eyes
But something says that your words are lies
You say, I still love you, too
But you're turning into someone's else's arms, aren't you?
While I still lie broken on the ground
Still crying without a single sound
He says he wants to help me
But it's you that I want to see.
The shards of my heart are turning to dust
Blow away in the wind they must
And I snatch at them without hope
Is it true that without you I must cope?
I know that all I did was confuse you
But you did the same telling me you love me, too.
No one can please everyone at the same time
Hence why I seemed to commit such a crime
As to give you up, to let you walk away
Even though I'm still begging you to stay
But I might as well remain silent for all the good it did
Nothing seemed to make a difference no matter what I said.

You have a good concept and you've expanded on it fairly well, but I'm not really a fan of your addressing the audience so much in this piece. I feel like it would work better if the piece was shorter, but at present it feels a little stagnant.
