Arizona

Arizona

A Poem by Timothy Ryan

Slow breeze
Long flowing black hair
Tight fit jeans and sandals
Desert on the left
And palm trees on the right
The taste ingrained forever
It becomes life

It becomes emotion
Falling asleep to the TV on
Chain smoking cigarettes
Polishing off another bottle
The anxious calm of the night

It's the morning time
The sun rising
Turning off the alarm clock
Looking in the mirror
Getting dressed
Driving to work
Songs on the radio

It's dinner time
It's the shower
It's making your bed
It's laying down

Every dream
Every nightmare you weren't asleep for
The thoughts that mean everything
But change nothing

It's Arizona
