The Famous Six

The Famous Six

A Poem by Rew
"

a fantasy of a return to childhood

"
I have need to be at Smuggler's Top
to be my sixth of Blyton's Famous Five,
I'll book the sleeper coz it often stopped
by my bed, as it steamed down to St Ives...

There, I'll snuggle down in Enid's safe world
with Julian, Anne and Timmy the dog,
and Dick and George (who's a jolly smart girl)
as our adventures keep us all agog...

For no law can force me to be adult
I shall cast off hard travails of this age,
and in my simplemindedness exult
in turning back to an earlier page...

Or, I might open my Noddy book and
Go, hand in hand with him back to, Toyland...

About
I try to write a story using a fixed form as vehicle. For example Villanelles & Ballades. I try to keep away from the angsty/maudlin/stuff. But, if my work doesn't suit you then, please, pass .. more..
