Spider

A fun little verse for my unwanted neighbors.

The silken thread,

brutally unhinged,

is up the next morning,

with industrious ease.

Our war,

for the frame of the door,

goes on and on and on,

Perhaps,

Perhaps,

She wants me to bow,

before I come in,

and before I go out.

Oh my gosh, I love this. I saw it in the feed. I don't know you, but I love this poem. I used to hate spiders. I forced myself to like them because I felt it was an irrational fear. I now live with them or patiently shoo them when my kids freak out. My favourite is when a man freaks and I calmly walk over, pick up the spider, and let it out.:)

I was too. I used to just cringe at the things. But I opened my eyes and forced myself to see their beauty. Just like all critters that gross us out. I can't stand being afraid of something I shouldn't be. My advice, find yourself a Rosy orb weaver, and work your way to the black and hairy ones.:)

personally, i'm terrified of spiders, and im pretty sure that isnt going to change in the near future. but after this poem, maybe i will live with the arachnids in a mutual relationship...:)

Spiders seem to be like that, but I think we give them too much credit. In reality they are just as stupid as the rest of us.

My professor for animal behavior often said, 'The most complicated behaviors can be broken into a few simple components'. So a spider spinning a web is actually following a few simple rules and performing around three distinct behaviors. While writing this, I am performing roughly two behaviors and following the one rule of not being caught by my professor. :D

The thought struck me when I stooped under the web to get out of the door. The next time I saw the spider, I could of swore that she looked smug.

:D Y'know, if you'll spray around that entrance with citronella, or burn the torches for a couple of days, the spider will move on because the flying insects won't be coming around.
