Mortal Goddess

Mortal Goddess

A Poem by Riall

There's fire in her bones
Her soul, a reflection of thunderous skies
In her spirit lay remnants of a vengeful Persephone
Trails of Hell follow wherever she lies.

Her lips drip flames, and echo the sound of Hades' moans
Her heart beats for the Underworld, perfectly in sync with Its wretched cries
Her voice flows like a beautiful symphony,
A lonesome howl in disguise.

There's grass in her fingernails, and bruises from scattered stones-
There's black and blue in shapes of butterflies
Her mortal body shaking in agony
The ghost of ancient Gods, with no place to call home, and none so wise, as she lies under the moonlight, blood in her veins, and tears in her eyes.

This goddess does indeed seem very mortal. The first two verses depict a larger than life super being, but the last one indicates she is an abuse victim, another woman trapped in a brutal relationship.
