On the Peak

On the Peak

A Poem by Rick

I've stood there too, in rare air
Cold wind blowing hard, biting
A pinnacle on the roof of the world
Earth stretches out in all directions
Possibilities, but also choices
Endless, infinite directions
But there's the balk, the hesitation
Which direction is right, true?
How must I go knowing what I must do?
Do I let my heart lead my head?
Or do I let my head lead my body?
First step is off the peak, foot hanging in air
Heart pounding, palms damp
That first movement is most frightening
But it is a direction chosen, a way, a path
Not the destination, but the journey started
The next step is so much easier.

So many possibilities and each choice may hold wonders of its own as you journey...the path chosen by the heart holds the most joy. Life is about the journey not the destination, so true.

Many questions, and deciding while hesitating is very much the human condition.

there are so many precipices we come to on this odd journey thing called life~ some we step off~ some give us the threads to soar~ in hindsight~ we wonder~but forward volition is a constant forever offered~
