I Took Him There

I Took Him There

A Poem by Jerome F Knox III pseudonym Nefarious J. Dorsey

The master made

A request of me

He wanted to see

For himself

The source of

My pain

The blood stains

Remained

That led us to

The tree of

Woe and uncertainty

There he saw me

Lying in the arms

Of despair

At first I was afraid

I thought a mistake

Was made

Until he wiped away my

Tears and soothed

My fears

As

He pulled back the

Veil of pain

Like it was a curtain

He saw that

I was hurting

Uncertain

Grieving

Cause I started

Believing

That the failure

Was in me

So I took him there

Reluctantly

As he saw me

Resting comfortably

In the arms of despair

He rubbed my cheek

And before I could speak

His countenance

Overwhelmed me

Now I can see

Clearly

What he has done

He gave up his only

Son

So that the outcome

For me would change

Dramatically

Why ?

Cause

I took him there

I took him there

I took the Master there

To the place of my despair

No words left to be spoken

He saw that I was broken

And that my heart wasn't

Open

My soul was dying

As I was trying

To do things my own way

But he would not walk away

From me

He was the only one

That could see

Pass my faults

And saw all

Of my needs

He is the only

Who believes in me

And now you know why

I had to take him there

I had to take him there

I took the Master there

To the source of my despair

He wiped away my

Tears and soothed

My fears

Because I honored

His request

I am forever blessed

That is why

I

Had to take him there

I had to take him there

I had to take the Master there

To the source of my despair

this begs the question, and a valid one..."why do we rest so comfortably in the arms of despair?"

at times i was thinking this could be shortened a bit....and at others i found that the repetition worked extremely well...so that is my dilemma.
nice poem
