Nothing Blooms In June

Nothing Blooms In June

A Poem by Jerome F Knox III pseudonym Nefarious J. Dorsey

Every second
Of every hour
The flowers
Lose their power
They bloom to soon
As April showers
May dissipate
But self hate
Rarely evaporates
Nothing blooms in
June
So you lie
When you say
That it's not that
Dry in July
So on the backs
Of Lilac's
Dreams of Jasmine
Dry up like
Raisins in the sun
What have we become?
What have we done?
Fallacies now fall
As we try to make
Sense out of it all
So now
Every second
Of every hour
The flowers
Lose their power
They bloom to soon
As April showers
May dissipate
But self hate
Rarely evaporates
Nothing blooms in
June
Still you lie in July
Resting
On the backs
Of Lilac's
Dreams of Jasmine
Dry up like
Raisins in the sun
What have we become?
What have we done?
What have we done?
There's
No thunderstorm
To perform
The sanitation
That is needed
To cleanse the situation
Still you are Abel
To hear the pain
From Cain
Over and over again
When will we stop
The lies
And admit that it is
Too dry in July
Not to mention that
Nothing
Blooms too
Soon in June
Without divine
Intervention

wonderful wordplay...like a cross between "dream deferred" by langston hughes and "april come she will" by simon and garfunkel...

very smooth inlay of rhyme.
