How Love Feels

How Love Feels

A Poem by Will Riley
"

Thinking about my ex and why it still hurts after such a long time. Though about a comparison that pretty well made sense to me at the time. I'd love to hear what everyone else thinks

"
If love were to be acted out,
it would not be a kiss.
It would not be a dance through a field of daisies.
Love is painful.
We strive for it our whole lives,
not realizing what our instincts are actually telling us to do.
When i think of love
I think of taking a box cutter
and making lacerations in your chest
exposing all of your weakness to another person,
while they do the same.
You would then passionately embrace each other
It stings.
But then the wounds heal together and you are one with them
all the tragedies and victories of both lives are intermixed into one
you essentially take the other person unto your own being.
being torn from this person is the most painful experience you can undergo.
Your wounds may heal but the scars will stay forever.
If they didn't love you back, then you're the only one who's in pain.
Love is like a maternal peacock.
Beautiful
But vicious
