Porcelain Doll

Porcelain Doll

A Poem by Rita

Hidden by a puddle of tears,
The pain mounts in my eyes,
I hope to God they don't overflow,
And give away my little disguise.

Oh, how beautiful I must look,
With this smile plastered on,
Like a precious porcelain doll,
Every feature carefully drawn.

Teeth gritting into a smile,
I show my questionable joy,
Slowly drowning in my grief,
As they play with their little toy.

Throwing it around merrily,
They continue their little game,
Nothing but a ragdoll now,
I bow my head in shame.
