WHAT WILL IT TAKE

WHAT WILL IT TAKE

A Poem by SJ Mullins

I don’t want money or a big fine fancy car
I just want you, honey, I love you just as you are
I don’t want gifts of diamond rings and such
I just want your kisses, and your gentle touch
It does not take much to please me, my love
We were brought together by God above
You have definitely been His plan for my life
I’ve enjoyed all these years of being your wife
When we married we were joined as one
God blessed us with both a daughter and son
and when they were grown, a beautiful grandson
so tell me now why it seems we are done?
I’ve done everything that I know to do
To show you just how much I love you
I am not a material kind of girl
You and our children are my world
I don’t know what else I can say
Inside I die a little more each day
How long must I continue to carry on
Like I am in this relationship all alone
What will it take to make you see
The toll this situation has taken on me
And how it’s affected my mental health
I just want you, I don’t care about wealth.
I don’t want money or a big, fine fancy car
I just want you, honey, I love you as you are
