THE SCORE

THE SCORE

A Poem by SJ Mullins

I want to be brave

I want to be free

I want to help save

those who are like me

When the darkness comes

It hides all the light

My head constantly hums

When the demons I fight

I try so hard to break free

Yet, they still hold on tight

Until darkness is all I see

I fight them with all my might

I don’t want to ever give in

I’ll fight ‘til my last breath

This war I intend to win

There is no sting with death

But my work here is undone

So my task I shall embrace

In helping others find God’s Son

We will be going to a better place

In Heaven we’ll have mansions, not dorms

The darkness will leave forevermore

We will no longer deal with life’s storms

Jesus Christ, on the cross, evened the score
