AMAZING UNENDING LOVE

AMAZING UNENDING LOVE

A Poem by SJ Mullins

Pain, darkness, and despair,

does anyone out there care?

This dark shroud surrounds me,

it will not let me see;

blocking out the light,

so it always seems it is night.

Do I even have a prayer?

How much must I bear?

Will I make it until dawn?

How do I carry on?

Somebody help me, please!

I am down on my knees,

in prayer, bowing my head--

thanking God I am not dead

Where do I go from here?

Down my face rolls a tear,

I'm not a quitter, I'm a fighter!

My soul's beginning to feel lighter.

The darkness begins to fade,

because for me the price was paid!

When Jesus went to the cross

He showed Satan who's boss!

Jesus delivered me from the dark.

He helped me hit the mark

in finding my way back to Him;

my future now doesn't look so grim.

I felt I had lost my mind and soul,

but Satan no longer has control!

Light surrounds me, I have a better goal,

after Jesus rescued me, and made me whole.

I have found peace and joy once again;

I am no longer bound by my sin,

all because Jesus died on the cross for me.

His amazing, unending love has set me free!

What a treat. You said a lot in only a few words. You took me from darkness to light and the transformation was believable. What you have described is so true and well said. I can even imagine that the change could come as quickly as your poem with just a little introspection. For this person, it came first with prayer and then with a simple sentence, "I'm not a quitter..." Beyond that, something much more powerful and sustaining.

This is a beautiful, gut-wrenchingly honest poem. I can very much relate to the feeling of helplessness and hopelessness described in the first few stanzas - Stanza 1 is particularly vivid and real for me. So many times, we are surrounded by our sin, pain, sorrow, loneliness, fear, anxiety, doubt, etc., and it seems there is no escape. Yet as you express so well in the second half of the poem, "for me the price was paid," and "I am no longer bound by my sin." You do a wonderful job of capturing the feelings of both agonizing despair and the uplifting, redemptive, liberating hope that comes from the realization that we have been saved from this darkness. Great work!

Without faith. We will be lost.
"I have found peace and joy once again;

all because Jesus died on the cross for me.

I enjoyed the poem. I liked the journey and the ending. The above lines. We must forgive ourselves first before we can do peace. Thank you Suzanna for sharing your amazing poetry.
