Carbon MonoxideA Poem by Rachel KingDepression
Sitting in the dark
In a parked car. The car is full But I am empty. The car has lights So you can see in the dark. I have no lights, The bulbs burnt out, The store is closed. The car has tires So it can move. My tires are flat, AAA is $80, I am broke. The car has a battery So it can start. My battery is dead, It won't charge. Mechanics can fix cars, No one can fix me. Code scanners tell you what's wrong with the car so the mechanic can fix it. I'm unscannable, No one can figure out what's wrong with me. I have no gas. I have no lights. My tires are flat. My battery is dead. I can't be fixed. I don't even know what's wrong but I've broken down. The car breaks down, you can make it run again. I break down, I sit in the dark in a parked car. © 2017 Rachel KingAuthor's Note
