A rose among thorns

A rose among thorns

A Poem by Enigma

The rose wilts, its beauty lost

Its petals dull, its head bowed

No sun surrounds it, no water within its reach

Once so full of potential, now wrapped in a gloomy shroud

Its buds are reaching out to open

Fellow roses inspire it to grow

But all hope is lost, its soul dampened

The world once beautiful now full of sorrow

A wind blows, a hand is offered

The rose's heart set free

Its roots start absorbing sustinence

Darknesss begins to flee

I look upon the rose

Now so red and full of life

I see a mirror before me

And now I know I can survive

My heart and soul need water

And a hand for it to warm

For with a little nurture

A rose can grow among many a thorn

For in the mayhem of the day

I lose myself, I shrivel up

My spirit starts to lose all hope

And sets he path to  go astray

I feel my heart beat getting weaker

My breathing shallow, my hands tremble

Suddenly there's life all around me

And I slowly begin to reassemble

Now I'm warm despite the cold

My ears unblocked, my eyes alight

A voice whispers inside my head

Everything's going to be right

Like the rainbow in the sky

I float and drift so high

The sun's rays enrich me with their glow

I let out a comforting sigh

As the rose I too need care

If it lacks I'm as good as dead

I stop and bask in in self-comfort

As on personal ground I thread
