What would ...

What would ...

A Poem by Mike Rock
"

A poem from a bad boy to his angel.

"

what would Jesus say? what would he do,

if he really knew how I think you?

you are one of his angels, sent from above.

a true believer, filled with unconditional love.

I am such a cynic, I question so much.

how can you blindly believe

in something you cannot touch?

your idea of fun? getting down on your knees

and praising the biggest

mass murderer in the history of the world.

my idea of a good times? flying into the teeth of the sun.

seeing how far I can go before I am flamed.

your world is filled with hear no evil,

see no evil, speak no evil.

I seek the dark side. I push the boundaries

spit at authority, laugh at convention.

when our worlds collided, I took you through a tunnel

and showed you a side of life you didn’t know existed.

you were appalled, but also enthralled,

curious about the unknown, left wanting for more.

your words of wisdom: be sweet and happy,

patient, kind and courteous

are all things I don’t understand.

I have tried to lift myself up to become that which

you want me to be, but I am just a bad boy,

a lost child if you will,

with no desire for redemption.

what happens when paper and fire mix?

or oil and water? drugs and booze?

which brings me full circle

to the original question:

what would Jesus say?

and do I really care?

Mmm, how true. To the point, straight to the bone. I like it and can relate.
