The Dead Man's Eyes

The Dead Man's Eyes

A Poem by Rockstar Alvarez
"

If you have read the book Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, then read this poem.

"
The control of the birds stolen from me,
Cut by those animals for nothing.
Picked up and taken to the jail with red everywhere.
Feeling shrills of anxiety by the dead man's stare.
Reading the hatred in their eyes.
Forced to face all Mrs. Reed's lies.
Feeling Low before shipped to school.
Ready to be swinging from vines of new rules.

Settling in isn't quite so simple;
Finding faith, religion, and a Temple.
Learning different ways of dealing with hate
Other than letting my thoughts flood with rage.
Embarrassment hurts, but it brings smiles.
Nice to be humanized once in a while.
All the good in my life Burns in front of me.
Illness strikes, taking love, leaving nothing.

A governess, a mistress, one without,
Thorns in my side, too many to count.
Leaving the tree for the teaching of the poor.
St. John helping to offer me more.
Refusing the first call, accepting the second.
Who knew fire was a blessing?
Yorick helped e see through the sexist lies.
As i finally see through the dead man's eyes.

Author's Note

Rockstar Alvarez
If you are wondering why i did my structure this way, it is because three stanzas=third month (March), and 8 lines each=eighth day. This is a poem about a feminist book, and what is more feminist than International Women's Day? AKA March 8th...
