Mira's Song

Mira's Song

A Poem by Nathaniel Mann
"

I create little characters for my story, and Mira is an old favorite of mine. THis is about her dying of cancer x)

"

She stares at the ground
Like her she's full of regret
And she walks up the hill
Hiding every secret

Oh, the wind through her hair
And the salt in the air
Its hardly what she can stand
And the pain in her toes
As the cold stings her nose
And her shoes
Are filled up
With wet sand

(Chorus)
So come on, get up
Just please don't
Give up
We can beat this
If we really try
And don't tatter your rags
Close your eyes
With their bags
Because you haven't
Slept in a week
Look out on the ocean
Swim in the sea
Keep up your devotion
Believe in me

Theres a rock in her pocket
Thats rigid outside
And nobody can see
It's beauty inside

But nobody can see
That she's just like that rock
She's hard on the outside
'Till you open her up
Than her colors explode
Like a ticking time bomb
And just like before the storm
Theres always a calm

(Chorus)

Now we scatter those ashes
The ashes from you
To feed your old soil
To grow flowers all new
And we'll pick them and keep them
In that porcelain vase
The one that we bought you
For when reality was faced

They pumped you with meds
And they did all they could
But in the end the devil won
Like you said he would

(second chorus)
So let's lay down your body
You said you wouldn't give up
But you said your goodbyes
And it was finally enough
You got to swim in the sea
And look at the ocean
With one final word
You proved your devotion
So promise me this
One final things
Fly far away
On your paper wings
