Armor Amour

Armor Amour

A Poem by Anna

I tried to save you

And though full of reasons

I’m not certain why--

In the middle of everything

I gave up but I did try.

Maybe it’s the scent of

Dandelions that I miss.

Something blissful about

Being this homesick for this.

I dove after you in groves

Of black walnut trees

Tearing up my favorite jacket

Skinned my knees, and I--

And I fought river currents

So you couldn’t shy

Even farther from me.

But you can’t save

Drowning men

By jumping in after them.

Anna,
Nope. No one changes unless they really, really NEED to. I cannot even change minor little things like... I should walk for a half hour every day... sorry, not if it's too cold, or hot, or I'm too tired. I don't even jump in to save myself! I read something a long time ago..."Men marry women thinking they will never change, but they always do... Women marry men thinking they will change, and they never do."
And see... As the Jefferson Street Poet once said "Poets do not write for us to understand the poem, it is not about understanding the poet, it is about understanding ourselves. Like this poem.
