Our Garden of Love Sweet Roses

Our Garden of Love Sweet Roses

A Poem by Atthis Rose
"

This is a sonnet of mixed Petrachan and Shakespearean formula and the end a dose of my own invention. please imbibe and enjoy

"

I

For you my friends the bright Red Garden Rose

Take this my pledge of love’s Fidelity

A ‘Marriage of True Minds’ I now propose

Of Loving Hearts in lasting Amity

“Our love’s for all seasons” This we declare.

As Red and White roses together we lay

Lovers’ hearts are bonded True and Sincere

“As Comrades always, together we stay”

With heartfelt joy we coo these Confessions

Like newlyweds in the bliss month of June

We brides flee to the Garden of Passion

To writhe in ecstasy to poems in bloom

So come my darlings, come my hearts delight

Come bask in my Rose Garden, lovely bright

II

Lush and bright is my Garden of Roses

Where bloom Love, Faith and Hope throughout the year

With Lavender, Blue Violets and Primroses

These Godly Virtues are by us held dear

So with the Cactus the Bluebells and Fern

Our warmest affections Constant, Sincere

On altars of Love these fragrances burn

In sacrificial flames of loyal hearts

Yet here, their seedlings spring new life in turn

From these hollowed fields we shall never part

The Furze in all seasons we’ll gather still

Till the long night comes and death do us part

So come away sisters, let’s this Garden till

With Roses and Allspice our hearts we fill

III

With Roses and Allspice our hearts we’ll fill

With Love and Compassion o’r hearts o’erflow

With Hollies and Heather and sweet Daffodils

With the ‘Lilies of the Valley’ they’ll grow

“We’ll water the Jasmine and tend to the Phlox”

“We’ll grow the Borage and Gladioli with Palms”

“We’ll prune the hedgerows and rid of these rocks”

“We’ll plant Rosemaries with sweet Marjorams”

“These Crocuses? Because you make me laugh!”

“These Holly Herbs? You’re the source of much delight!”

“These Hydrangea!? For seeing through my heart”

“These Dark Pink Roses; for being in my life”

You’re the flowering Rose that blooms in our Garden

You’re as Blossoms of Apples within season

IV

You’re as the Blossoming Apples in season

My Doves, my beloved who share in this mood

Of passion in this Garden of Eden

Rose Blooms fill my Bouquet with Gratitude

With Fuchsias I’ll Confide my Love for your ways

And shower you with Garlands of Virtue

True hearts like Sunflowers are set ablaze

At the sun’s warm embrace at height of noon

And to its bright gay smile they raise their gaze

Like the gentle rains you’ve showered your boon

Like the gentle dew at bright early morn

Your waters restore my soul anew

With loves loyal Devotion we’ll adorn

Our Garden of sweet Roses without thorns

Our Garden of sweet Roses we’ll adorn

In bright shades of red, white, pink and yellow

Which’ll flourish like copious rows of Corn

We’ll plough in th’fields of our hearts deep furrows

Seeding Anemones with Celandine

Nurturing their saplings for tomorrow

Then we’ll all sip on Sweetbriars and preen

While we’re weaving old Ferns with each other

And renew o’er the years our Ivy League

Just stay as sweet as you are dear sisters

Wear blossoms of Narcissus in your hair

And deep in your hearts where they’re sure to flow’r

Beyond our Garden there’s none to compare

Beyond these sweet Roses and Almonds we share

V

Beyond the sweet Love and Promises we share

Are blossoms we celebrate, Beauty and Zest!

Lush blossoms of Lemon o’er Orchids rare

And Aniseed in spring when new life blooms best

Hearty cheers from our bower will ne’er end

So come to the feast, but watch out for Puck!

Wear this Mayflow’r in Welcome good friend-and

Enjoy Serenades as Dew Plants we suck!

Come Let’s ring the ‘Bells of Ireland’s’ for tunes!

Shower Chrysanthemums for o’r Happiness

Come Smile Sweet Will’um-a` la vie we croon!

Come hail with Buttercups life Cheerfulness!

We’ll share good times by o’r Garden bower

On Rosy days, thro’ storm and cloudy weather

VI

Through bright sunny days and stormy weather

We’ll ring dance in wreathes of Calendula

And Coreopsis beneath majestic Firs

We’ll twine fresh Burnets over Merry Hearts

You are my heart, my sweet Angelica

My longing, my sweet- smelling Amethyst

I’ll Treasure you with each breath of Zinnia

Forsythia’s Hopes bloom bright in our Hearts

My loves, lets ever keep our Garden trysts

With Rose buds and Marigolds we’ll begin

And Best Wishes of Basil will spice our bliss!

The Joys of Pale Roses shall Grace all Hearts

May we all share the Luck these Clovers bring

Life, Peace with Prosperity and Good Cheer

Dandelions we kiss as these Dreams we Win

The Yellow Rose shall prosper in our Hearts

To all my True Friends whom I hold so dear

Lets tend our Bright Rose Garden throughtout the year

Interesting... The forms are definitely really well done; and difficult to do. I also like the use of imagery and metaphor, which is truly what the traditional sonnet employed in a "ode" style manner. I also find it interesting that you said this will be part of a novel, I'd like to see the way that plays out. Well done.

AHH, praise from girl Friday! Refreshing waters from above!
This is a beautiful tribute to flowers in classical Shakespearian style. I'm sure that it will be a joy for me to read your upcoming novel. Watch out for Puck!

This is a tribute to loving friendship using a garden as metaphor. I am glad you enjoyed it!

I know it to be a metaphor too which is connected to a greater context.
