My sweet little poppy

My sweet little poppy

A Poem by ROSALIND

Remember "Me" The poppy sigh's
I grew amongst the hard ground
I am a flower ready to bloom
I stand hidden among the green fields
forgotten unkempt
Yet I stand tall with pride
until am torn wide
They hunt me down
and dig me out
I live no more
in this shady cool spot
My seed lies dormant
beneath the frosty ground
Spring arrives and still
the frost bites
The chilly cold wind
turns away my love
At last the cold wind has
ceased.
My vibrant green roots
break forth with life
