Beneath the mask

Can I give you the benefit of the doubt

Will you remember me in 40 years time 

 If so how will you react when you look at me .

You won't freak out.

Because I have changed a lot 

I don't look the same 

I certainly don't feel the same 

Take me as you find me 

Or don't bother me at all.

"I don't answer" to anyone but me.

I like being me 

I see by your eyes 

You look troubled in your mind.

Please don't worry about me.

I can take care of me.

I just need you to try  and understand me.

Although I can see you disapprove of me.

Somewhat completely disappointed in me.

Well the last thing I need right now.

Is a complete rejection of  me 

Look around and you will see more of me .

Is hard at times to refute other people's behaviour and reactions.. is hard o avoid focussing on how one feels over and over again upon how hurt or offended one can become at times. Your poem is full of doubts and yet requests same time.. defiance and sadness make sad bedfellow at times, don't they, Roalind.. bless your great yet fragile heart.
