Angel

Angel

A Poem by Rowena Slade

When you look at me

You see a shy,

Happy person.

But look deep into my eyes.

Look at who I really am.

I am a girl in pain.

A girl who lost her way.

I used to think,

There where no angels.

I used to think,

No on cared.

But now I realize

They have been there.

All around me.

But I push them away,

So they gave up.

But then I met you.

You didn't give up.

You helped me

When no one else could.

You helped my scars.

You helped them heal.

You helped me find my way back,

Back to happiness

Because of you

I can smile.

Thanks to you,

I can live again.

I'm not trapped in a hole.

I'm no longer in a living hell.

But I'm not living with the angles either.

I'm  in between

But I'm happy,

Happier than I've ever been.
