Moving

Moving

A Poem by RubyOmma
"

I hate moving

"
Boxes
If I'm lucky.
Mostly trash bags

My life is shoved into the corners
waiting for me to
find it
realize I don't need it
and throw it away.

Need a fridge? A washing machine?
It's yours!
You can find it on the side of the road.
It's right next to my pride
and my heart
underneath my sanity.

I don't want to leave my home.
I'm throwing everything away.

New start?
Strange streets...
Don't go too far or I can't get back
What is the dang door code?
S**t.

How to find food
water
How to find a friend?
Don't worry Ruby,
it will be OK.

Isn't there any grass?
All I see is streets...
Endless lanes
of narrow roads
Full of
Cars
that drive too fast
and honk at me.
Be careful Ruby
Stay close to me.
There is no sidewalk
but there is trash piled everywhere.
Dirty people walking past me.
They spit at my feet when
I smile and
say 'good morning'.

I found a can of tuna.
It's a start.
Can't find a fork so I use my fingers.

The dog is hovered in the corner
shaking

I took her bed away and threw it in a bag
with all her toys
She's barking at the moving men
I can't
she's never done that.
I'm sorry honey
This is not our home.
Yet.
I didn't want to go either.

...

New students
they are tiny little munchkins
and they stare at me.

Then they smile
and they sing.
"I like apples!
Do you like apples teacher?"
Why yes
as a matter of fact
I do.

I found pizza!
It's right around the corner
Who knew?

Oh god
I found an Indian Restaurant.
I met a new friend,
and I can dance.
Things are looking up.
Butter chicken please.
Maybe two for tomorrow
who knows if I will find it again?
... or how to get home from here.
But I don't care.
things are looking up.

Nice compilation of moving away from place once called home. The ups and downs, packing blues and little discoveries everyday. Everyone can relate to this at some point in their lifetime.

the trials of moving home, makes me remember my first ever move when young, I hated every moment of it and never recovered from losing my home to this day, sad memories RubyOmma but we have to make do I guess, a great poem that touches the heart, well done.

I like how this deals with the stress and anxiety of moving to a different place, one that is unfamiliar to you. It is great that you went from sad and fearful to getting back on your feet. Friends always make things so much easier don't they? I am sure you will make many friends wherever you choose to go.

This is a dreamy, moody write full of release. The emotions seem to flow from a river of desire. The heartfelt feelings glow warmly

Whoa! This is simply beautiful. I was carried with the essence of the words, nothing heavy and simple things that we really don't need. What we need is right there... a friend, perhaps.
