Lolli Pup

Lolli Pup

A Poem by RubyOmma
"

I tried to save a puppy, wasn't in time.

"
Tigers that roam
and fingers that kiss me.
I kiss them back.
Tell me it will be alright.
Hold in my brains and
put back my intestines.
How do I show him
The bad man
what I feel
what I know
what I've done.
He will never know.
I was just
foraging through the streets
trying to find
a stick or anything
just to chew on.
I am a white wolf child
with a black stripe
around my neck
and I am dead now.
She tried to save me
my guardian angel,
but the drunk kicking man
he was too fast
and he hurted me.
She was not in time.
My brains and guts are out
and I am dying
whimpering
Crying out
then
licking her fingers
when she holds me
Crying.
She tries to hold my parts in
to put them back,
Carries me to the vet
and won't let go of my body.
Even after I am gone.
The sweet kind one
she ran and yelled and knelt
and took the hits for me.
she chased the bad man away
and tried to save me,
But not in time.
I died in her arms
with my kind blue eyes
and my tongue on her hand.
I will be her guardian now.
Forever hers.
I will give her my sister.
My black companion
with the white stripe.
I will give her my grandfather.
I will love her
from the flowers
and the stars
and the moon that shines down.
Little Lollie Pup,
I am.
I'm sorry I couldn't
live for you.
I'm sorry that you had to
go through
the ordeal
that was mine.
I ran and tried to kiss him
but he thought
I was going to bite
So he killed me
instead.
She saw
and thought I was just a white
trash bag
until I called out to her.
I called but she was not in time.
It was not her fault
I know
and I will guard her forever now
from my after world.

Wow, this must have been heart-wrenching for you as an experience. But I salute your bravery and determination and compassion for the most vulnerable ones against big bad men. It was a turmoil in my belly to read this...it sincerely moved me to tears. And it was a very interesting perspective too, from the little lolli pup. I hope he rests in peace and finds happiness in the dog heaven.
