Night

Night

A Poem by Rudi J.P. Lejaeghere
"

The wing of the Falcon brings to the king, the wing if the crow brings him to the cemetery. Muhammad Iqbal

"

A crow is flying by

and caws the little edges off the day

in evening away.

Night is crawling black from tree to tree,

his limit is the shadow

his nest is down the grave.

A crow is flying by

and caws the rest of sleep

into so wide awake.

The dark is mirroring fear

in open and behind the sleepy eyes

until in the morning

with the first crowing

the ghosts are gone again.

I love writing about the night. I almost feel more comfortable in the evening that any other time during the day. I got a feeling of Poe while reading this. He wrote about a raven and you wrote about a crow, but it still reminded me of his work lol. You are amazing with imagery though, I can always perfectly see what you're describing and I love that about your work. Thank you again for sharing your poems with me :)

Hi Rudi, great imagery here. Crows are creepy and mean; and you have them controlling the night. You are a bad man! Thanks for sharing. Matt

I hope you still do but thank you for the compliment, really appreciated, Lily. :) Rudi
We often speak of the omen crow but such a creature has become my morning companion, waking me on time, every time. I really love your poetry, Rudi... it is so expressive and well written.

A very good tale in the poetry. I like the crow. A bird of mystery.

Rudi: I really like your poem. Crows really get a bad wrap! But oh my isn't it fun. It's a great poem that gives that ominous feeling, a reminder of signs, of death, like the crow. Night is a fun title and fits; I see below someone commented on their intelligence; he's right, but there's much more; "Their caw takes the little edges off the day and evening away...Perfect...his limit is his shadow..I look at the crow as the symbol of evil that exists everywhere although your concept is clear about this curious creature that leads us to death. I enjoyed the repeating phases...it's all wonderful writing. The dark is mirrowing fear in open and behind sleepy eyes...Now, that's clever...he waits. Thanks Rudi...Dale
