Nightmares

A Story by Wes Hart
"

Not so much a story as a description. I have seen this thing before in my dreams.

"

I hear the sound of hooves coming down the asphalt. I turn and watch it come towards me.

Its body is like a horse's in size and proportion. Long lank hair falls from every inch of it. The hair is thick and clogged with a foul smelling oil that turns its coat a purplish-black.

            It has no legs.

Upon its hide are strange plates. They are a rusted olive color and look like the plating of an armadillo. Its back is covered in this armor from tail to head.

            It has no eyes.

The neck is long and tapers to a head that reminds me of a greyhound. The jaw is split down the middle. The head is covered in plating while leaving the jaw free. When it opens its maw to roar at me in silence I see its rows of doglike fangs. The mouth is a sickly pink color.

It charges me. I know no more.

Wow, thank god I don't dream in your world. Good stuff. Vivid and real. Smells and sights and you need to give the beast its own series.
