Daphne

Daphne

A Poem by Alicante lullaby

We are the same,

the myth has it

Same twin dark eyes

soul escaping them in cerulean ripples.

Same highlights to emphasize our hair,

same rogue tingue of deep red melancholy

to accentuate our features.

We are the same,Daphne

the myth has it.

Then he comes

You turn to tree, the ever green one

But I cant.

I'll have to run and run and run

I was never you,Daphne

(Iam just a woman)

the myths were all wrong.

your poetic voice is so well established - the twist of the myth - oh how similar we are - until reality comes knocking and you remember a myth is just a myth - no tree for you - nice!

Sweet words

we are the same, we are different... that's the way it is. reality hits hard after a lifetime of myth and storybook expectation...and we have to face the music. or run from it.
a great write, as usual.

You are my favorite... and you are unique... ur poetry is exceptional... it's so beautifully different... i never came across any of your poems without a word of praise spontaneously escaping my lips... myths are just myths but you are for real...

.
. you are like no other ... and that's why your poetry is completely you ... the myths are wrong ... love and respect are at the end of the quintessential dark tunnel ... i have no doubt in my mind that you shall find both ... it's crystal clear to me ...

Dear Alicante lullaby,

Wonderful poem. Are you, too, pursued by an Apollo struck to the heart chords by Eros' golden arrow?! My, then you are like Daphne, struck instead with leaden arrow, always to shun Apollo. But you are but woman, not able to change into a laurel tree. Alas! You must "run and run and run". But take heart. Unlike Daphne, you are not doomed to be forever tree, if even that tree is forever cared for by Apollo and it's branches and leaves ever honored by decorating the heads of leaders and atheletes. You are but woman, but you shall always and ever be woman. Not so bad in my estimation.

A truly wonderful and thought-inspiring poem, tremendous in conception and execution. Deepest congratulations.

Best regards,

Rick
