Do You Want To Leave Yet?

Do You Want To Leave Yet?

A Poem by JC Pire

You got your heart in your boots

and your jackal will shoot

As he sees that your last hair has gone

He kicks you when your dead

Broke your heart when it bled

But shadows you from dusk til the dawn

When away the last crow flies

and your youth vine dies

Your beast is chained to the wall

You aren't in the same boat

So why do you make note

Of what the inside beggar calls

Outside is a poor world

that makes Hitler's hair curl

Not fit for a nun or your child

So where shall you go

In the church or the road

Make haste 'cos in comes the tide

If I was your soul

My sleeves I would roll

and my plan would forever be set

But for the guilt in your heart

and the church's remarks

Ask "Do you want to leave yet?"
