The hope of arrival

The hope of arrival

A Poem by Shubhangi
"

That desperate and long wait!

"

 She was parched and broken,

It made her dusty, dry and barren.

No beast or being alive was seen walking;

Just dead plants and trees with leaves withering

Inert and still, they stood with their trunks bare,

Staring up to sky, like arms raised in prayer.

The earth was crying, her tears got evaporated

No life, no hope dwell, the abode appeared haunted.

All moisture lost away, she counted on that hour;

When the cool breeze will blow bearing the news of shower.

She awaited for the mighty clouds, like an antsy lover restless

Who expects his darling dearest, days long and nights sleepless.

The sky now became grey and overcast,

Air turned sharp, pleas were answered at last

Deafening sounds blasted, the heavy clouds roared

Accompanied by brilliant flashes, as it finally began to pour

Drop by drop, the cold water touched the earth;

Resurrected she was, like granted a rebirth.

New life, new hope flourished, plants and trees revived,

The rains bought happiness and everything rejoiced.

Cracks in the earth were filled, her core all repaired

Similar to that anxious lover, who have waited in despair,

His broken heart now grows jubilant, as he sees his beloved

His thirst quenched after all and his soul appears contended.
