Silly: What Have I Done?

Silly: What Have I Done?

A Poem by Lee Song Yang
"

This poem helps us realise that every day, with our mouths and the words we utter to those we dislike, we wage war with them, thinking we are defeating them, but we only exacerbate matters.

"

Silly: What Have I Done?

our mouths are like guns.

we don’t realise that

we only worsen matters with our tongues.

we are used to the screeching sounds of gunfire.

we are oblivious to the stinking smell of defeat.

we ignore the shocking sight of destruction.

we wage war with our tongues.

Bang!

we fire.

we wage war on our enemies.

we are injured by their bullets, so

we desire to fight till there’s victory because

we want to see them fall.

we bleed internally, not externally.

we think the harm dealt will only be a scratch.

we fire.

Bang!

we wage war with our tongues.

we don’t give any second thoughts.

we are foolish and silly, and

we think all our words bring peace, but

we only worsen matters with our tongues.

we don’t realise that

our mouths are like guns.

no matter how hard we try to reverse it,
