Insomnia

Ironically I wrote this when I was falling asleep in a college lecture

Cannot possibly stay awake

Buzz is gone from the caffeine stake

Close your eyes and wonder why

Is this how it feels to die

Words that wander from the page

Disease can strike from any age

Close the eyes to concentrate

Float on lands of razor hate

Ever falling into sleep

Red eyed cannot count the sheep

Drift away upon a tear

A waking terror sleep is fear

Insomnia has gripped your soul

Escape the vicelike stranglehold
