Entropic Thoughts

Entropic Thoughts

A Poem by Meenakshi Dutta

What do you want freedom from?
Did you mean the open skies are caged?
Or have your mind been caged by the
  shackles of your elusive thoughts!

What if you're unbound and untied
  Yet entangled by intrusive contemplation.

What if you have to look up at the clearer sky
    And not the Frozen pearls
'Cause you know the ephemerality of them!
    Don't you?

Wish I could tell you
There are no boundaries, no boundations.
 Forge ahead, Freeze not!

Thoughts can be shackles just as surely as material chains are. Their limitations can restrict our lives and prevent them from being what they can be. "Frozen pearls" can be anything that is subject to time, and we will know pain to the degree that we attach ourselves to them. The last verse is an exhortation to free ourselves from chains and pearls, something the great spiritual traditions have been trying to tell us for centuries.

I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for your beautiful words. Your poem is a powerful reminder of the importance of freedom - not just from physical constraints, but from the limitations we place on ourselves through our thoughts and perceptions. I was deeply moved by the way you use language to describe the struggles of life, and the way you offer hope and strength to those who are going through tough times. Your words are full of light and love, and I found myself feeling uplifted and inspired after reading your poem.

Thanku for finding it beautiful and expressive. Lots of love!
I thought here of people who are fearful of allowing their thoughts to fly freely. Caged thoughts are not healthy thoughts. A prison cell is not a good place to be. Everyone should be allowed to express themselves freely. No limit to open sky.

Many of us think our thoughts are caged up, that we don’t have the freedom to express ourselves…. And that is horrible….we want our thoughts to be free …free to think, clear our minds like the clear blue sky….no boundaries for us…forge ahead…. Very deep write and well done
