Complete

A Poem by Amanda Granger
"

It takes two whole beings to make a complete relationship.

"

It’s funny to me the ways
different parts can meet
and hold together--

day and night/water and sky,

West and South,

and everything in between.

Everything he says,
and all the ways he sees
all of me lets me know that whether--

and which way and however,
we will be together,
forever,
whenever,
no matter, against all odds
whatever.

Sometimes you meet your match
under the same sign,
in the same site,
along the same line,
not paralleling,
but rather intersecting,
congruent and reflecting,
the same message

the same letter,

the same verses
yet something all new, too.

And this, I have found,
is the meaning of completion
in another, and
you, my twin fish,
my guardian, my battle brother,
my friend, my true lover:

Complete me as none other
has ever
done before
or evermore.

It was okay. It was a generic poem and did not provoke anything in me. I did think the continuity of the poem was great.

"yet something all new, too."

I felt there was a suspension of thought. When two things converge, there is always a separation, no?

terrific wording expressing true soul mates...

two people complementing each other so perfectly...as perfectly as the wording is expressing this.

a natural, playful rhyme here indicating that smile, that chuckle one can wear, can produce just thinking of the contentment of being with another who makes us feel this way.

And another awesome piece of poetry ! You have such a way of writing that i feel as though i'm reading in my gut as well as in my head (if that makes any sense), which is rare for me indeed. Your description of
"It takes two whole beings to make a complete relationship."
is such a true statement, and compliments this poem so well. Too many people try to make themselves whole through a relationship, not realising that its a path you have to walk yourself. Fantastic work !

This is quite lovely. I enjoyed this part very much:

"day and night/water and sky,
West and South"

Things that by definition are quite opposites, and yet can only be completely understood in comparision to their counterparts! And your words just kept getting better afterwards! Beautiful!
