I feel the Glow

I feel the Glow

A Poem by Amanda Granger

I feel the Glow
Of Something being born
Within my soul
The old walls built up
Of Buts, what-ifs, and I-can’ts
Slowly crumble, cracking at the edges
And the light crosses me
As it slowly seeps in

I feel the Glow
Of Something new
Yet ancient, old as time
A thought, a rhyme
A purpose I can feel but cannot see,
A sightless vision set before me,
A path I know by scent alone.

If only creeping fear,
Contained only by a jar
So tightly sealed
That to break it I would have to
Risk rupturing, scraping myself
Losing parts of the comfort,
This straight-jacket that I both
Love and fear, that soothes me
As it restricts everything within,

My inner Glow"

Do you feel it?
For someday you will,
And my fear won’t dominate
The gifts I have to give
The truths I hold innate
The will to be, to live
And to always strive for more

For a drop of sunlight is never enough;
I long to bathe myself in it,
To arise like an ancient
Priestess of Apollo and
Take my rightful place
Among the brave and bold
Celestial bodies crossing space
Or falling to earth,
Leaving craters
And space-stuff behind,
Leaving my mark
On the hearts I long to find
And touch and move with my own spark.

I long to feel the Glow;
And spread my light so all will know
And in knowing, touch it too,
Until we all glow a single light through-and-through.
