A poem to arrange my feelings and thoughts months after a break up

Never shall I believe I imagined it all
Was it really a mistake forcing reality to stall?
If I could go back I would do it all over again
Even if a time traveller told me there was nothing further to gain

I shall never forget, but I will never show
You will never forget, but you won't admit it so
Honestly, its better this way
We were meant to meet, but never to stay

Here we are, with nothing to fix, nothing to redeem
Then why do I still wake up remembering you from a recent dream
The 'what ifs' will always weigh much heavier on your side
Since it was all done by your final stride
