Honestly Winning

Honestly Winning

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

with truth

"

Battles may seem to have winners

with others who seemed to lose

If you were a born loser

every loss may help you choose

Any loss brings the truth

about what we must do to cope

The fight to win becomes crucial

it can no longer be just hope

Past failures are gone forever

the future needs to have no more

But correcting those failures

takes more effort than ever before

Winners work well with winners

and losers can't find a friend

Choose honesty rather than winning

and your success will never end

Winning is not winning

when deception enters the game

It corrupts the mind of the winner

who will never be the same

Play the game fairly

with honesty and transparency

You have to live with yourself a lifetime

and it will be forever obvious

for everyone all to see

Honesty is never easy

that is why it is so rare

Only a few will try to do it

they define the meaning of care

We live one time in this world

to leave the judgement not our own

Memories that last forever

timeless and not alone
