I want to be in a place...

I want to be in a place...

A Poem by Sami Coot

I want to be in a place where the sea and land

meet in a loving embrace

because the rolling heather-filled moors

are just waves

in slowed time

so when a curlew flutters out

it's so fast

it's like a flick of an eyelash

into the broiling purple sky

I want to be in a place where the sea and land

fight for control of a rocky headland

that sticks out spitefully into the water

braving all

a dark outline of anarchy

so when a gull glides out

it's so serene

it's like eyes closing for the embracing night

in the soft dusky sky

I want to be in place where the sea and land

belong together like yin and yang

where one without the other is out of place

and lost

and the pain in my heart is stilled

so when I step out

it's so joyous

It's like a tight embrace around my middle

in the sweet, brilliant sky
