What's in a Name?

What's in a Name?

A Poem by Sammi

Born a blank slate
Given a name
Names hold power
The start of an identity
Your identity.

Your name is a constant
Beginning to end
The greatest connection
To your identity
To your individuality.

Names allow us to respond
When acknowledged by others
Surnames offer connections
To our past
To our family.

There is no sweeter sound
To our ears
When our name is called
So look in the mirror
And ask

Who am I?
