Distant Self

Distant Self

A Poem by Sandra Acevedo
"

I am a bulimia survivor...I wrote this after one purging episode.

"

She kneels desperately as her troubles are flushed alongside the rumble and thrashing of her soul.

Demons intrude pilfering her spirit that beckons to be again.

She parts from her fleshly existence into a world of forgiveness while begging, oh my distant self, please come back to me…

for I wish to no longer be theirs.

This is a very open piece and you can tell it's very emotional and personal to you.. there are times when we have to let out our feelings and put them on paper or whatever you have - just to release them. Very beautiful write!
