Indulgence

Indulgence

A Poem by Sara
"

another dr.jekyll and mr.hyde inspired poem

"

            In every man

A creature lurks

And waits to feast

On vulnerability.

When fed, it ravages the mind

And consumes every kindness

And when put behind bars

It calmly waits

Until the hours have passed

So slowly that its hunger

Leads it to freedom once more.

            In every man

The temptation of sin

The indulgence of choice.

Is the loneliest path

But the creature prefers the night.

It is neither a pack animal

Nor does it prefer to be alone

Rather,

            In every man,

The creature prefers to feed on other lives

So that it will never be alone

And never hungry.

The creature within

Waits for release

And when fed,

Like a dog

It will return for more.

The silence of night

            For every man

Is frightful

But for the creature

It is a chance to escape

And to feed the temptation that lurks

In the shadows of the soul.

The murky recesses

And the hidden passions

Can once more be released.

Evil calls

            Every man

Out of his hiding

And the frequency of sin

Whispers, full of static,

To every man that will listen.

Author's Note

Sara
i had to decide between this and "Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde" for which poem to turn in for my english project. i liked "Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde" better, but i still wanted to post this one so it didn't go to waste.

I like this, I like how you say that evil calls to everyone because some people don't agree. I like the format of this. But this is a really unique poem and I don't think I've read one exactly like it, it's different from what I expected from you Miss Fantabulous!

I liked it! It had a swirling flow to it. I enjoyed the images that filled my mind as i read.
It's true that man has that part of him that stays hidden deep down inside. Sometimes it comes through and prays apon others of it race.
Great Job!
