Mother

Mother

A Poem by Sarah W. French
"

...

"
Walk with peace and poise
as she curses your name.
"You're a Joke"
and all I can say is, "yes of course".
Breath and don't say a word
as she says, "You don't do anything".
Nod your head in submission
to the words, "I care about you".
Everyday is a new argument
and a new waterfall of tears.
I want to yell, to curse your name
but that's against the rules.
As I bite my tongue
I say the customary words.
..."I love you mom"
With each word flashes
skin and bone and brittle thoughts.
Images of blood and scars
marring my flesh.
But even these I don't follow
for if you saw you would die.
Are lives are intertwined,
each caring for the other.
But each word misplaced
each sound unmeant
means a world of regret.

Hit me really hard =)

First, spelling: "inner twined" = "intertwined," "that against" = "that's against."

Second, loved it. I like the imagery in the second half of the poem. The emotion is lovely.

Thanks...I just had another argument with her and it helps to write out my anger.
