Still Smile

Still Smile

A Poem by Sarah W. French
"

...

"
I scatter my blood
like bread crumbs.
My hair falls down
leaving me behind.
My nails create
patterns on my skin.
My glasses shatter
around my face.
I am on the run,
never truly sharing.
I scatter my blood
like bread crumbs
across the wide world.
Every so often I look
back and know
I made no difference.
But I understand now
that my life means
something.
I may be pale, with
tribal designs around
my body, but.
I may be broken
and sometimes unwanted,
but.
But I mean something.
So as blood and tears
and shattered dreams
run down my face.
My smile still works.
