For the Stage I stay

For the Stage I stay

A Poem by Sarah W. French
"

I wrote this half way through my school's musical this year. I was mad at the cast and the teacher.

"
You tell me you need me
Then throw me down
I sang my heart out
And it walked away
Now I want to go after it
But you stop me in my tracks
Slowly my heart comes back
But when it gets here
It will slowly stop and die
I want to sing for you
My heart is gone because of you
But if I leave the stage
The cast moves toward death
Even as my soul leaves me
I sing
But I sing for me not you
I sing for the fame not others
I sing so that one day
I'll look back
And say I'm glad I did it
Yet even as I say this you tell me you need me
And then you throw me down

I've felt this way before, I also liked how at one point you used a commen frase and added onto it to make you rethink things.
