How Can The World Sleep?

How Can The World Sleep?

A Poem by SarahRose

HOW CAN THE WORLD SLEEP

Like new eyes opening to watch

Trees swaying as monuments to passing nights

While their branches lean

Startle even the moonlight

I’m no great man

Just a thought on a page of a greater book

Standing in the smallest strand of time

The tapestry of lives a single night

In the year of eternity

How can the world sleep?

When we are the fleeting summer sun

Ashes on the wind moving on

Against a violent

 Violet backdrop of stars

Stage light for us actors

Pretending we’re permanent

I’m searching for a metaphor in my head

For everything to lose

Metaphysics may help me keep a question

Does God weep when we’re forgotten?

Sick of work. I am a banker. Work long hours. Tired. It's two in the morning and had to write. I have dreamed for many years that my book would one day be read and deeply understood by many walks of life. Not because of me or who I am but because of message in my heart. I am a writer and this piece is my heart.....it is my heart. Sarah
